Kaspersky launches global transparency initiative after accusations of spying for Russia

The first phase of Kaspersky Lab's Global Transparency Initiative includes the launch of an independent vendor source code scan by the first quarter of 2018, with similar revisions to software updates and company threat detection databases for follow-up. It also includes the initiation of an independent evaluation of the company's secure development lifecycle operations, programs, and supply chain risk reduction strategies by the first quarter of 2018

Transparency centers in Asia, Europe and the United States will open by 2020

In the first phase of the initiative, independent security researchers will also be encouraged to complete efforts to identify weaknesses and to mitigate these efforts by raising the ceiling of the awards for detection of errors and security breaches to $ 100,000 under the Gap Disclosure Program Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure, which was launched by the end of 2017

In addition to launching the first phase of the Global Transparency Initiative, Kaspersky Lab said it looks forward to laying the groundwork for cooperation with stakeholders and the information security community to chart the next phase of the initiative, which is set to begin in the second half of 2018
